Hawaii’s Trans-Pacific Submarine Cable System “Hawaiki Nui” Will Start Operations in 2025

Release Date: 2021-11-10

It is reported that Hawaiki Submarine Cable Limited Partnership (Hawaiki) will build a new trans-Pacific submarine optical fiber cable “Hawaiki Nui”, which is expected to start construction in 2022 and operation soonest in 2025.

Taiwan IDC, Varidata Limited understands that according to the plan, the new submarine cable is 22,000 kilometers long. It is the first system that can directly extend from Hawaii to Southeast Asian markets, such as Singapore and Indonesia, and can also run through Australia and the USA. The design capacity is up to 240Tbps. This means that the end-to-end connection among Singapore, Sydney and Los Angeles, further reduces transmission delays within the Pacific region.

Especially for the current rapid development of digitalization, the arrival of “Hawaiki Nui” can better meet international bandwidth requirements. Varidata Limited focuses on one-stop services, such as global private network, which can help companies build private network to obtain better connection capabilities with the help of submarine cable resources.

It is worth noting that “Hawaiki Nui” is also the first largest space division multiplexing (SDM) submarine cable and the first international system to land on the south Island of New Zealand.
